Did you perhaps pause the sim or hit q by accident? Either of those would

intentionally going into the options dialog, which I doubt could happen on
accident.

Hi, so here's what I think was happening. As you correctly said, when I

the flightplan screen. At the time I didn't realise this was was the
case and that's why I was reading through the manuals just to try and
find a reason for it going back to the flightplan screen. Obviously it
just went into pause, so I guess my only question is once this happens
how do I get back onto my active flight screen. I realise now that I
should have simply said report traffic insight at the time. I apologise
for making things more confusing,
Thanks Declan.

Hello Declan,
I was merely responding to your question using the information your
provided as a basis for analysis.
If as you stated, you responded with the phrase "Acknowledge" in
response to an ATC controller indicating that there is traffic nearby,
that would have cause IYP to emit the "1" key which would have selected
the option to [Select a New IFR destination] from the ATC menu. By
doing so, the simulator would have been placed in the pause mode and
the "flight plan" panel would have properly popped-up in order to
facilitate IFR selection.
If on the other hand, your would heve responded with (as I stated), "We
have the traffic", or "Traffic in sight", that would have cause IYP to
emit the "2" key (the required response) and the flight would have
contined as normal.
Thus, I am confused by your statement... "I've made sure to read all
the manuals".
Regrettably at this point, I neither know how to proceed, nor how I can
help you.

If ATC states that you have traffic in your area, and asks you to

"Traffic in sight", or "We have the traffic"
I strongly suggest that, despite your anxious feelings to get

With that said, you'd never take off without reading ALL of the

When you create and save your flight, are you then
loading it into the sim again? If you don’t do

This is a bit buggy, or at least not as intuitive
as it could be. You've created a flight plan, but
you haven't saved an FSX flight. You can read
about the process in the flight deck document on

seems to work. Personally, I feel like flights
are just a little too cluttered, and I prefer
this latter method.

Hi Declan,
This is probably because you just picked

its location. The default FSX flight starts

The solution is to go to the second Change

park at. The search interface is a bit
confusing, and I usually just memorize the
airport ID of the place I want.
