Not sure on that.
But I have noticed success by opening up a flight plan.
Also, you don't receive your four number squawk code until just before or is
it just after you take off.
Maybe Josh could further research that question for us in his next PF3 ATC
tutorial.
But right now I know he has a full plate testing out other projects.

But for a example,
I think PF3 ATC and IYP are not on the same page and here’s why.
My assigned alt from KERI to KMDT downtown Harrisburg was at a fl of 210.
So at 3 percent Glide Slope, I should have started my descent at or around 70 miles out instead of around 40 to 45 miles out.
But I made my first successful PF3 ATC trip.
