Hmm, the program only seams to work with a specific airplane, which i
actually don't have and I think it's comercial, and I don't know if I am
willing to invest into new aircraft just yet.
Do you have this aircraft already?

I haven't really done anything with flying since IYP was discontinued. I own

So, regarding MCE, yeah I agree on the realism paart, it would take
a learning curve for sure, but well, the sighted folks have the same
problems as well, so why not give it a shot.
I'd need some help though getting everything running, with proper
landing procedures and the like.
The only big problem I can see now is that most of the planes use
their own FMC to plan the course, i don't know if the standard FSX
flight planner will work as it should be.
I would be very keen on helping out and testing things when they
come up, I would be on board for the project.

of actually being able to do it without massive amounts of
automated assistance. Like I said, it was the main drawback of IYP
for me. I liked the convenience of some things, but sometimes I
think Michelle did too much for us, and it lessened the ability to
actually learn and enjoy the process. I like as much realism as
possible. Obviously, some things aren't going to be that
realistic, but anything that strengthens what we have is definitely
worth it. It's one of the reasons I was happy when Robert fixed it
so that we could communicate with ATC more realistically. That feature
is built into MCE as well.
Your copilot can handle ATC, but you can control communications if
you wish, and you can do the requests and readbacks realistically
for the most part. Moreover, learning all the correct timing,
pitches, and procedures would be a lot of fun, at least to me.
Also, it will allow us to fly any aircraft we please that is
supported by MCE with respect to checklists, procedures, and
callouts; we wouldn't be limited to one or two aircraft that they
would be willing to code. I like the idea of being able to fly
anything I please. Another added boon is that the devs of MCE will
be pleased at not having to implement massive amounts of code for
such a small community of us who like this sort of thing. It shows
initiative on our parts to work with the existing product, which
might make them more amenable to adding features we might need down the
road.
On a side note, I hope that we haven't given up on flying just
because Robert is gone. I noticed that I don't have any replies
except one to my original post on landing. I wanted thoughts from
as many as possible, in case I'm incorrect with my logic, or I'm
missing something small that would need to be implemented by the
devs of MCE, a callout here, something there, global things to all
aircraft that would assist us with the manual aspect. Again, not
looking to implement total automation here. So come on guys, let
me see those posts, lol. Let's not give up just because IYP is no
longer around.
I hope that's not the case. If my logic is sound, then I hope that
it makes the ones that felt defeated and gave up have some hope and
are willing to try. If we truly love flying, then it's worth it.
