It is worth noting that the pro version of FSXP will be going free in October.
Rudolph is having to deal with his real job, so can’t take the time to develop
it as much. With the autopilot panel, I wonder if we can have him label the
edit boxes. I’ve tabbed around and gathered what the altitude box is, and
changing this number will input the altitude into the autopilot. I’m not sure
if I have to press enter or anything, but I’m confused as to what the other
boxes are. But, I do like that FSXPilot has a “fly speed” menu where it can set
speeds based on the aircraft data it has, which can be found in the
fsxpilot.ini file.
I’d be curious as to where the heading box is to input a heading as provided by
ATC, for example…

The ILS approach mode is documented in the manual, and it doesn’t handle
flaps and such. Those are left to pilot’s discretion. You can let FSX Pilot
handle those if you another one of the autolanding modes.

Some features are limited. There are autopilot gauges on the top of the
screen which aren’t properly set in the shareware version, among other
things. I honestly bought the full version right away, so my own experience
with the shareware isn't much.

The EFIS panel has a “menu,” button which you can use, yes. If you
load a plane up on a gate or runway and choose “run takeoff,” you’ll
get air-born and stabilized. There’s a manual which offers more
details, that is highly worth a read. Basically, there are two
windows, the EFIS panel and the main autopilot.

For FS Economy purposes, it’s probably sufficient to fly direct

You don’t need a flight plan at all. FSX Pilot can actually
fly you pretty much anywhere, and includes commands to try to
land in weird terrain, which might help in really remote
airports. It can also fly you via airways, which is helpful if
you’re flying with ATC coverage or with a flight plan you
create yourself.
One thing which is important to emphasize is that just because
FSX Pilot doesn’t integrate support for ATC, that doesn’t mean
you can’t use them together. You can certainly fly with
default ATC, or any of the third-party add-ons.
