This is a good suggestion. There is also 'qemu,' though I've never used it and can't guarantee it meets the requirements.

If http://packages.gentoo.org weren't still so ugly and broken I'd
check to see if it's in portage.

http://gentoo-portage.com is what I use. Both virtualbox and qemu appear to be in Portage.
