Hello all,
Dean Elmore's Coffee and Conversation (
http://www.bu.edu/dos/coffee-conversation/index.html ) takes a turn towards a
topic that some of you may find interesting.
What is Coffee and Conversation?
From the website:
Coffee and Conversation is a weekly discussion forum with the Dean of Students,
in which members of the University community are welcome to discuss topics of
national, international and intellectual import. Students are encouraged to
submit topic suggestions to dos@xxxxxxx Coffee and Conversation is held Fridays
in the Howard Thurman Center during the academic year. Cofee and Conversation
is sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Students and the Student Union.
The topic which may intrigue some of you (again, from the website):
Join us March 28th for a discussion on Copyright, File Sharing, and Free
Culture- shouldn't music companies be paying us for promoting their music? What
is with filesharing lawsuits? Who owns art, music and performances? Join Dean
Elmore and special guests DJ BC and attorney John Graff.
DJ BC will be providing musical entertainment both before and after the event,
which is also being publicized by BU Free Culture and the Student Union
Technology Committee.
Should prove to be thought provoking.
