Hello Jimmy,
I'd be interested in hearing that presentation - sub-$60 sounds like a
pretty attractive price to me. So far, you are the only name on the
prospective officer list, plus you have the advantage of already having
been an officer - the odds are in your favor.
I didn't have a machine to install Ubuntu on either (and if I did, I still
wouldn't) but it's still fun to turn out and kick it with some like-minded
individuals. We got a Shuttle PC donated to us that we need to think of a
use for, by the way. Pentium 4/40GB/512MB I think, or at least something
in that neighborhood.

P.S. The Slug is great (but it doesn't support Ubuntu yet). Might be able
to give a presentation about creating a new sub-$60 Linux-based computer at
the next meeting.

It's getting toward the end of the semester and summer is approaching
(whoo!). The LUG must be re-registered for next semester by May 1st. In
order to complete the re-registration process, we need three undergrad
officers. If you'd like to be a LUG officer, please send an email to
rmullen at bu with a brief paragraph explaining why you'd be good at it.
You MUST be an undergrad and you MUST be around next year.
A certain priority will be given to existing officers.
If you're not sure whether or not you should apply - there's as much
responsibility as you're willing to take on. It's pretty much all voluntary
stuff, so as much as you're willing to contribute is as much as is
necessary.
