Yes, it was brilliant on the Shirala the week before last, very clear
We also noticed it doesn't like the arun, thought it might be a setting of some
sort

Hi it is very good at finding fish on a flat sea but when you motor on a
choppy sea it is just about useless. If you increase the Sensitivity you just
just get mush from the engine, if you decrease the sensitivity then it’s hard
to pick up the lumps on the sea bed
and on the low setting at speed it’s not very good just keeps losing the plot
Especially when you come into the river mouth. I think that echo sounder is
meant to be fitted to a slow fishing boat with the prop as far away from the
sensor as possible.

Hi All.
The sounder was brilliant when it first went in, we all remarked on how easy it
was. I wonder if the transducer has moved on the fixings at the back. It may be
just a small adjustment needed. If you go boat handling you could take a
screwdriver and with someone in the water (engines off) make a running
adjustment.
The settings are supposed to be all automatic - turn on and go but there are
some settings to check. I will send round the instructions again.

Where did you go? Putting a shot line down with that echo sounder on anything
other than a flat sea is a bit tricky to say the least.

Hi All
We have Julian, George, Alan and Alex down for tomorrow. Looking at the current
forecast I’m assuming you are not going, but will leave you to organise between
yourselves if you think you want to give it a go….
Steve Spurgin has the boat box and O2 etc
We did take the boat out yesterday. Was a bit lumpy both ways, but safe and
manageable. Viz was always a concern given the recent weather, and Steve Askew,
who’s first two UK dives were 10m+ on the mulberries, and 5m+ on the Shirala
asked how bad it could be. He now knows. 😊
We had problem with the starboard engine as we left the Arun, as it kept
cutting out as soon as we tried to give it some throttle. We eventually left it
to run for a couple of minutes on fast idle, and it then ran fine. Only other
issue was the trunk kept dropping down, so may need to replaced the cleats, or
at least the springs
