Local Notice to Mariners 07 of 2018
Open Water Swim Event
MARINERS ARE ADVISED that an open water swim will take place on the River
Arun on Saturday 23rd June 2018. Approximately 450 swimmers will be entering
the water at the Ship and Anchor Marina at 0940 and will race to the Public
Slipway (RNLI Station) to finish between 1035 and 1115.
Swimmers will be escorted by safety boats and kayaks throughout. No other
vessels will be permitted to transit the river past these swimmers. The
river will be closed to all other traffic between the Ship and Anchor Marina
and the Public Slipway (RNLI Station) for the duration of the race.
The harbour patrol launch will also be on the water for the duration of the
race and will be listening on VHF Ch71. All vessels are instructed to
maintain a good look out, keep well clear of swimmers and follow any
instructions issued by the harbour launch.

This Local Notice to Mariners is self-cancelling on completion of the event.
Owners, Agents, Charterers, Marinas, Yacht Clubs and Recreational Sailing
Organisations should ensure that the contents of this Notice are made known
to the masters or persons in charge of their vessels or craft.
