Subject: [bubs] Bylaws Ratified; Board Nominations for April 25th
Reply-To: bubs@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hello sailors!GREAT NEWS - by a unanimous vote, we have agreed to ratify the
Boston Blind Sailing Bylaws!! 17 people voted. Thank you everyone who
contributed to writing, gave feedback, and voted to ratify! Your participation
has been key in creating a solid foundation for our blind sailing program.
Last week, we asked people to submit their interest for being on the Board of
Directors. The nominating committee met to discuss the applicants and compiled
their responses in a document, attached here. The nominating committee will be
putting forth 8 of 9 applicants (the ninth was someone who wishes to defer to
next year) at our First Annual Meeting of the Corporation. It will also be
permitted to make nominations from the floor.
So, what's next?1. Read through the nominees' responses, attached here. 2.
Think about which nominees would comprise a board of varied and useful
experience. Please note that according to the Bylaws, the Board shall be
comprised of 7 members, at least 2 of whom are visually impaired, and at least
2 of whom are sighted. Additionally, the Bylaws state that the Board, once
elected, will decide who among them will hold certain offices. This isnot
decided at the meeting.3. Come to the First Annual Meeting of the Corporation
on Thursday, April 25th at CBI(waiting on time confirmation). 4. Elect the
first Board of Directors!
Congratulations - we have bylaws! We are one step closer to becoming a
non-profit!
All the best,Grace
