Something different for practice tonight: Alex and his students are going to
set up two sonars with a new system they've been working on. I don't know much
about it, but I know he would love to have us test it out! Since they will be
there early tonight, we may take out the audible buoys and practice with those,
too.
Dog plan: If you're bringing a dog, try to get them a lifejacket while we're
waiting for folks to arrive to save time later.
See you at 5:30 by the picnic tables on the dock!

Last Thursday's plan went from almost bailing on the whole thing to having four
boats out and a race/dog committee at CBI! We did some tacking and jibing on
the whistle, and several practice starts, where boats improved on staying near
the line and being on time to start. We also saw the return of Willi from his
adventures in Puerto Rico, and Alex and students testing equipment on a skiff.

This week we've got a rather warm forecast with some good wind on Tuesday. If
you would like to come to Advanced Racing on Tuesday, please let the coaches
know.
Please RSVP by Wednesday if you plan on attending Thursday Open Practice, and
if there's anything specific you'd like to work on, speak up!
Finally, Grace will be taking a vacation next week, Aug 5-9, and also Aug
19-23. I encourage everyone to make plans to go sailing together anyway - the
world is your oyster! Christina has volunteered to organize while I am away, so
