Hello everyone, Professor Grace is looking for a student to assist with a research project. Please read below for information. Her contact details are at the end: --- Please note this newly posted UROP position description. I am looking for a qualified and interested student to fill this role. I am willing to help someone write the UROP proposal over the next couple weeks. It is due on Dec. 4th. Please contact me if you are interested. > _________________________ > > A human subject study will be run in the spring of 2015 to ascertain infrasound levels that can be sensed by a cross-sectional representation of subjects. Subjects between the ages of 18 and 80 will be enrolled in the study. > > We need a lab monitor for the human subject testing that will begin in January. The study will enroll at least 20 subjects and each subject will visit the lab for 4-5, one or one-and-a-half hour sessions. > > The lab monitor will have to take the on-line certification course for human subject testing which takes a few hours and can be completed anyever there is internet access. The lab monitor will be trained to help subjects understand the consent form and complete the pre-test survey. In addition, he/she will be trained in how to operate the sound booth and the software (which is written mainly in MATLAB), and how to do the preliminary checks of the data being acquired. > > The lab monitor must be organized and reliable as he/she will be setting up appointments with the subjects and must then meet them at the lab at the agreed upon time. The lab monitor must have a high level of integrity, as the results of the human subject tests must remain anonymous. > > There is no single background or interest set that is required. We envision that the lab monitor will be someone with an interest in human perception of low-frequency sound, or someone with an interest in human subject testing, or someone with an interest in scientific inquiry in general. > > __________________________ > > Thanks > Professor Sheryl Grace (sgrace@xxxxxx) Sincerely, Mehmet Akbulut
