Hi all, While diversity was rather low, we did luck up on a couple of
outstanding fall migrants, among other suspected spp, at headquarters Unit this
morning-

Olive-sided Flycatcher- 1 Nice initial spot by Carolyn Phillips. Flycatching
from a tall snag just a few feet south of the observation deck at the end of
the pier. Observed by many over a 10+ minute period- caught and ate a
dragonfly. Alder Flycatchers still present but are thinning out noticeably
compared to last survey

Blackburnian Warbler- 1 hatch-year female. Nice call by Larry Raymond. Foraging
along with other migrants in large pecan in narrow riparian strip edging the
oxbow on the lake bluff trail south of the hilly patch of thicker woods- just
south of where these woods meet the open field. Both of the records above
represent personal seconds for those spp in nw La during fall- so two in a day
isn't bad!!

Good birding,

Terry
