Hi all, Under sunny skies with calm winds and 102 degree temps, Charlie Lyon
and I conducted a good 3 hour survey of RRNWR- Bayou Pierre Yates tract
beginning at 5 p.m. this afternoon. We first searched for the Purple Gallinule
found Saturday, without success, at the weedy barn pond, but had an ad Common
Moorhen and 3 juveniles. There were 3 ad Pied-billed Grebe there, with 5
juveniles of 2 different ages. Our best shorebirds were two ad Long-billed
Dowitcher and 13 Solitary Sandpiper, among other expecteds. 4 Wood Storks
slowly winging sse along the river in the calm air was cool to see. The final
touch was a female Yellow Warbler in the Baccharis and willow stringer lining
the bottom of the ditch between units 5 and 6.

Good birding,

Terry
