Hi all, Today was what I'd consider the first "noted" increase in hummingbirds
at the feeders- rather than a "major" increase that usually happens around now,
or not too long from now. There has been 1, rarely 2, to none in the past week
or so, with the first ad male seen a few days ago. Today there are at least 2
ad males and 2 female-types busy working the feeders and potted Salvia coccinea
and guaranitica. The first grouping of Mississippi Kites (1 ad, 2 juv.) were
noisily calling from the dead top of a large live pecan in a neighbor's yard on
the nw side of the property. They vocalized almost non-stop with only a few
seconds of breaks for 45 minutes between 5:15 and 6:00. Hopefully there will be
a few non-breeding migrants afield as well tomorrow.

Good birding,

Terry
