Hey all, Tried to salvage another morning too wet and muddy to work by
heading toward Sentell Rd. Hit a blinding wall of rain 3/4 of the way
there, radar showing it was solid for a good distance. Turned around and
headed back toward home, then took a detour up Viking Dr west of Benton Rd.
My FOS Dickcissel, heard at 0745 behind the gas station at Benton and
Viking was still there singing upon my return at 0840, then again as I left
around 10:35. Most of the birds found below were found in light (but really
too heavy to bird) to heavy rain. Things cleared up the last 30 minutes of
the survey, whereupon I added the Marsh Wren and the two Painted Bunting,
both spp almost side by side on a fencerow. I made some good iPhone
recordings of Marsh Wren and Dickcissel, then lost them some how or other
signing into my account. I ended up losing all my contacts after having to
pay the Apple store 20 bucks to erase the phone and start over. I find
Apple, iCloud, heck, i-anything tactics extremely offensive and invasive!
If I wasn't in a contract with them through att, I would try to smash my
phone into a trillion pieces right this second!!
Back to the birds- had a few decent shorebirds, too!
