Had a bright male late yesterday afternoon at the feeders in Bossier, then
3 males on one feeder this morning. Three were there again just minutes
ago. A male was heard calling and giving sub/ whisper-type song from an
unseen perch in the pecans during a quick stop here around 1 pm. The
feeding area isn't convenient for window viewing from the apt. The station
is actually behind the unit. I did not see the female RBGR today, nor any
Indigo Bunting. Otherwise, the House Finch and W-w Dove are still piling
in, with a scattered few N Cardinal. Heard Northern Waterthrush and Common
Yellowthroat singing before leaving this morning, among others. I'm only
feeding black oil, thistle and an occasional handful of peanuts. The
thistle hasn't been touched so will likely be bad soon, if not already.
Several + each of American Goldfinch and Pine Siskin were heard today in
Azalea Gardens in se Shreveport. Lots of thickets nearby but sound was
coming from low and sounded locally condensed- so likely a feeder station.
A tall fence obstructed the view.
