Cocke county
Elevation: 1750 ft.

I saw a pine siskin pulling material from a stash of dryer lint and hair by our feeders yesterday. According to Nicholson's "Atlas of Breeding Birds in TN", the pine siskin is a "rare and erratic" breeder in the Southern Appalachians. There's other evidence of their breeding in Cocke county: a juvenile was collected in July, 1937 at about the same elevation.
