Ann Crumley, who manages the Bristol Bird Club

Paddle Creek Pond project water levels for shorebirds

and waders, is shown at the left in a white tank top

while busy at her day job. She farms the 684-acre

holdings of the Crumley Farms Inc. along the South

Fork Holston River in eastern Sullivan County, TN.

During the last seven days, her pond pumping system

has removed a million gallons of water. This has

resulted in a drawdown of more than a foot and

migrants are stopping to feed on the mudflats.
