A first of season Green-winged Teal has been at the pond both Monday and
Tuesday of this week.

On Monday, 20 Blue-winged Teal have been nearby on the upper end of the
pond.

 

NOTE:  PLEASE DO NOT BIRD AT THE PADDLE CREEK POND UNTIL MONDAY, 14 OCTOBER,
OR

LATER SO HAS NOT TO BE A DISTRACTION OR CAUSE CONGESTION ON THE NARROW DIRT
LANE

LEADING TO AND FROM THE BIRD DOG TRAINING WORKSHOP ON CHAD BAKER'S PROPERTY.

 

Excellent mudflats have developed in the last 10 days since Chad Baker
elected to start the electric

pump in the lower pond on the Crumley Family Farm and lift water to his
several ponds which are

well up hill above the mudflats.  Chad is making ready for a Retriever
Training Workshop 
sponsored by the Northeast Tennessee Retriever Club, 11-13 October (this
weekend starting on

Thursday).  The pump has been operating about 10 days and the water level is
down about two

feet.

 

On Monday evening, 7 Oct,  birds present included:

 

Pectoral Sandpiper  1

Least Sandpiper 2

Killdeer 7

Green-winged Teals 1 FOS

Blue-winged Teal 20

Tree Swallow 9

Great Egret 1

Great Blue Heron 1

 

The Great Egret, a few Blue-winged Teal, Green-winged Teal, Pectoral
Sandpiper and Killdeer

were still present today.
