Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center and Park put the finishing touches on their excellent State Street window display across from the Paramount Theater in downtown Bristol, today. It looked like a feather down pillow fight had exploded by the time the bird elements were well in place. Special items added to the massive display included: bird field guides, bird posters, binoculars, a field checklist of birds dated June 20, 2010 at Steele Creek Park and marked with birds seen by a David Wilson. A Cannon PowerShot digital camera, string of bird bands, a beautiful, mounted, Great Horned Owl, and copy of Rick Knight's Birds of Northeast Tennessee Second Edition which the Friends helped fund. The display will be in place until July 31 and you should take some time to walk up, read the details about the Friends and what they do and enjoy a very nice display about the natural history of the park and nature study.
