The Trumpeter Swan that Rick Knight found at Whitetop Creek Park in Bristol Tennessee on January 1, 2003 is a WILD hatched bird. This information was obtain by speaking with Harry Lumsden, who is a retired biologist with the Canada Natural Resources. Mr. Lumsden said he placed the wing band on the swan on October 10, 2001 at Wye Marsh near Midland Ontario, Canada of the Georgian Bay. The swan is a female that hatch in 2001. Mr. Lumsden has always enjoyed Trumpeter Swans and now spends his retirement working with these birds. The swan was seen regularly at Wye Marsh from October 2001 - April 12, 2002. The following list is the dates and locations the swans was observed. 17 April 02 Point Nickel May 2002 - 29 July 02 Wye Marsh 26 September 02 Victoria Harbor 31 October 02 Wye Marsh 8 November 02 Hog's Bay 3 Dec - 6 Dec 02 Wye Marsh The swan was last seen on 6 December 02 until Rick found it in Bristol on 1 Jan 03 where it stayed until 12 Jan 03.
