There will be a wake at Hamlet-Dobson funeral home this Tuesday night and the funeral service will be Wednesday at four p.m. at St. Dominic's Church in Kingsport. Although I've visited him daily, I was out birding today with my brother Joe and his wife at Sycamore Shoals when he died. I think he would be glad of that. We spyed a Eastern Kingbird nest. My father manned Mendota for more than twenty years-was the first person to collect data there, I think. Fred Baron took him up there the first time. There used to be a photo of the two of them on Mendota. My feeling is that he lived a long and really fun life, chocked full of lots of interests- I've been pleased to help him out in his later years.
