Bristol Birders: Following the cold front that passed through the area Tuesday evening, the bird activity at South Holston Lake and in the area picked up. This morning (8/7) at Musick's Campground, I had three (3) Forester's Terns. They were seen in both Virginia and Tennessee area of the lake. Chris O'Bryant joined me later in the the morning and we had an Osprey at the campground. We have a strange white heron hanging around the campground that is very shy. We made about 10 photos of the bird with a digital camera and I went back this evening and got several more good shots. It looks like it is probably going to be an immature Little Blue Heron.
