Area Birders: The excitement continues to build for the rollout of Rick Knight's second edition of The Birds of Northeast Tennessee on Aug. 19th. For those of you who are pacing the floor and wring your hands or breaking out in sweats, here is the schedule as the production team presses forward. Tues. Aug 5 2:00 p.m. Meeting at printers to confirm last-minute coordination for Index. Also brief meeting with management and learned cover stock and page stock shipment would arrive Wed. Aug 9. 9:00 p.m. quick handoff of digital makeup of entire book with the exception of index (Johnson City). Wed. Aug 6 5:30 p.m. quick handoff of corrected digital makeup which had been worked on throughout early morning hours and throughout the day on Wed. (Bristol) 12 midnight all changes, corrections and last-minute submissions of dates, identities, etc. due. from Rick Knight and Wallace Coffey. Thurs. Aug 7 4:00 p.m. Deadline for all make up and layout digital files delivered to printer by Mike Poe. Fri. Aug 8 11 a.m. Meeting at printer for last look and signoff of proofs for front cover and inside cover graphics. Invited artist will be there to assist with inside cover graphic elements. 1:00 p.m. Press rolls to print book cover and inside cover. Printing team representatives present to sign off on early inked copies coming off press. 4:00 p.m. Cover finished and set in stacks to await book. Mon. Aug 11 Beginning of press production for inside pages of book. Actual time TBA. Printing and binding will consume most of the week. Team members will be present to signoff on certain setup and printing results. Mon Aug 18 2:00 p.m. Chris O'Bryan and production team members will pick up books. Chris will assist at printer to carry and load an estimated 33 cases into Wallace Coffey's SUV. 7:00 p.m. Books will be delivered to BBC Circulation Team for storage and eventual sorting, library delivery and distribution. Sorting of books will begin. Tues. Aug 19 7:30 p.m. Cases of books will arrive at Steele Creek Park Lodge for BBC Book Signing Party and birder pickups.
