The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries' WILD School Sites
Mini-Grant for 2004 has been won by St. Paul High School in Wise County, VA.
They are working on an environmental education center adjacent to a wetland,
and their project includes numerous habitat plantings as well as rain gardens
for filtering runoff. Their students are actively involved as members of "Team
Estanoa" in all aspects of the planning and implementation, and they are
receiving support from Town Council, Wise County, and many other local agencies
and organizations.

The grant announcement was made by Carol A. Heiser, Habitat Ed. Coordinator,
Va. Dept. of Game & Inland Fisheries.

Let's go birding...
