Yesterday, I spotted a Great Egret on Highway 11W in the standing pond near
the roadway just before you get to Quality Bodyworks. On the way home, I
stopped at the Bluff City bridge and a flock of Cliff Swallows were entering
the mud nesting structures under the bridge. Approximately 15-20 Cliff
Swallows were spotted.
Last evening, J.G. and I were spending some time in our backyard and spotted
both a Blackburnian Warbler and a Blackpoll Warbler in approximately the same
place. Good looks so sure of the ID's. The Blackpoll was gnat-catching
between a maple, crabapple, and Leyland Cypress. The Blackburnian was
spotted in the maple tree (which hasn't fully budded) and flew to the back of
the crabapple.
I've had a bit of a lull getting out lately as my vehicle was totaled on
March 30 (rear end hit). Purchased a replacement late last week. Perhaps
though, I should just hang out in the backyard more...
Happy birding!!!
