Glen, You found some good birds at Rural Retreat. I need the Sedge Wren and the Nelson's Sharp-tail. We're leaving for the Outer Banks of NC this weekend for a week, but maybe when we get back we could get together at Rural Retreat and do some birding. Keep finding those good birds. We had a good number (10 - 12) Lincolns Sparrows; 5 - 7 Savannah Sparrows; 4 -5 White throated Sparrows; 4 - 5 Swamp Sparrows plus several Field & Song Sparrows. Alan Boynton and I had 2 Sedge Wrens on Monday as well. This area is a prime spot for the Nelsons Sharp-tail Sparrow and with enough people walking the area together, I believe that some good birds could be flushed. Alan and I also had a lingering Common Yellowthroat and 20 - 30 Tree Swallows. Duck species seen were: Blue-wing Teal 12, Green-wing Teal 3, American Wigeon 1, Gadwall 2, along with Canada Geese and Mallards. Anyone interested in a group jaunt through the area please contact me and we will see if we can indeed flush up some good birds.
