Early this afternoon (10/12) five SNOW GEESE were in the mouth of the Spring Creek Embayment of South Holston Lake just upstream from Musick's Campground. The birds were initially in Washington Co., Va. but eventually flew down the lake into Sullivan Co., TN and did not return. Using a scope, the grin-patches were evident on each bird. Some 200 Canada Geese were on shore nearby but the Snow Geese stayed to themselves. My wife, Carolyn, was birding with me. Also in the Virginia waters were two Osprey, juvenile Bald Eagle and four Double-crested Cormorants. A single Osprey was found at Middlebrook Lake, Bristol, TN. Let's go birding.....
