1/5/13 Phipps Bend Industrial Park, Surgoinsville, Hawkins County

Observed the Short-eared Owl for approximately 15 minutes beginning at 5:25
p.m. Owl appeared, flying low over field left of the cooling tower foundation
and dove to the ground several times. Owl perched on the ground about 75 yards
from the gravel parking lot, allowing great scope views.
Common Raven perched on the containment building, calling several times before
dusk.
One adult male Northern Harrier also seen.
Thank you, Rick Phillips! You should have been there tonight with your camera!
