The Shady Valley Christmas Bird Count has been rescheduled for Sunday, Jan. 4 (this weekend). The decision to set the makeup day was made Tuesday night of this when BBC members met to compile the Bristol count. The Shady Valley count was originally set for Dec. 20 but was called off due to inclement weather when 7 to 10 inches of snow covered the valley the night before the count. Roads were dangerous and some impassable. If you can help with the Shady Count on Sunday, telephone Rob Biller at his cell number of 423-647-3131 and make sure what coverage area you can work in. At last report, the area along TN Rt. 91 (the road to Mountain City from Damascus thru Laurel Bloomery) does not have anyone working it it. I am sure Rob will work something out with you. Most of the rest of us will be out of pocket this evening and Saturday traveling to and from our Glade Spring CBC area and taking part in the Glade count. Several of us stay in cottages on the edge of the Glade circle tonight and go afield all day Saturday. Give us a hand and give Rob a call. Let's go birding......
