A woman in Hampton, Carter County, TN, just called me at work and shared a story about a hummingbird at her feeder with the snow falling. Her description of a "brown" hummingbird fits well with an immature male or female Selasphorus hummingbird. She said she only really noticed this bird after all the other hummingbirds left, so it has been at her feeder for awhile. She also has a hummingbird vine on her porch. It sounds like a Cardinal Creeper morning-glory. I'm not sure how long the vine will last in this cold, but she is going to maintain the sugar water feeder. She said she is also friends with Jean Potter in the Herndon Bird Club, and will probably be calling Jean. Her name is Betty Kirby. She sounds agreeable for people to try to see the bird. Her phone number is 725-3850. I did mention that people might want to see it, but that they would call and ask permission prior to coming out. If someone could put the wheels in motion, it might also be nice to get this bird banded and IDed. Thanks, Bryan Stevens, Hampton, TN __,_._,___
