[Bristol-Birds] Sandhill Cranes over Watts Bar Lake, Rhea Co. TN

Just a few days ago I asked my brother Herb Erwin in a phone call if he
had heard any Sandhill cranes yet this fall near his home on Watts Bar
Lake at Spring City TN.  (upriver from Hiwassee Is./Blythe Ferry)  He
had heard none up to that time, but he reports seeing some last evening
(Nov 20).
 

"Yes, the sandhills are moving, cranes that is, a flight of
approximately seventy five passed

over as we were walking last P.M. They made a flight re-adjustment, and
after much discussion,

five birds from midway back moved up to the point of the "V" then flew
on in direction of the

Hiwassee Island Refuge,
