A group of 10 birders turned out Saturday, 18 April 2015, as part of the
34th Annual Honaker Redbud Festival. The Russell County Bird Club leads the
walk each year and Peggy Herbert was the leader this year.

Honaker is the Redbud Capital of the United States with its thousands and
thousands of beautiful trees blooming everywhere.

The early-morning walk took place at Slate's Campground on the Clinch
River on Route 672 between Honaker and Blackford off State Route 80. Birders
walked on the old Blackford Spur railroad bed along the Clinch River, North
America's most biodiverse river.

The group had 33 species and most enjoyed an Osprey and Yellow-throated
Warbler.
