[Bristol-Birds] Results of today's BBC field trip

Rick Knight, as usual, did a great job leading the BBC field trip to Winged
Deer Park, Austin Springs, South Holston Lake and the Weir Dam area. Nine
birders participated on a cloudy, windy and chilly day......but it was worth
it as we saw 77 species. Spring migrants were rare, but winter holdovers
were numerous. The list follows: Canada Goose, Wood Duck, American Wigeon,
Mallard, Blue-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, Green-winged Teal, Lesser
Scaup, Bufflehead, Red-breasted Merganser, Ruddy Duck, Wild Turkey, Common
Loon,
Pied-billed Grebe, Horned Grebe, Double-crested Cormorant, Great Blue
Heron, Great Egret, Black Vulture, Turkey Vulture, Osprey, Bald Eagle,
Broad-winged Hawk, American Kestrel, Killdeer, Greater Yellowlegs, Solitary
Sandpiper,
Wilson's Snipe, Bonaparte's Gull, Ring-billed Gull, Rock Pigeon, Mourning
Dove, Belted Kingfisher, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Northern
Flicker, Pileated Woodpecker, Eastern Phoebe, Yellow-throated Vireo, Blue
Jay, American Crow, Purple Martin, Tree Swallow, Northern Rough-winged Swallow,
Cliff Swallow, Barn Swallow, Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse,
White-breasted Nuthatch, Carolina Wren, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher,
Eastern Bluebird, Hermit Thrush, American Robin, Northern Mockingbird, Brown
Thrasher, European Starling, Cedar Waxwing, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Eastern
Towhee, Field Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, Song Sparrow, White-throated
Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, Northern Cardinal, Red-winged
Blackbird, Eastern Meadowlark, Rusty Blackbird, Common Grackle, Brown-headed
Cowbird, Purple Finch, American Coldfinch, House Sparrow. Our next field trip
will be a beginners' field trip on May 9 to Winged Deer Park.
