Last Saturday, July 17, 14 BBC members and public participants turned
out at 8:30 a.m. for the Fun Fest bird walk at Bays Mountain Park near
Kingsport.  BBC members participating were Judy Roach; Janet Brown;
Larry McDaniel; Rack, Carol, Jami, Kami and Sam Cross; and Mary Erwin.
Additional participants were Tom and Marlene Browney of Stuart, Florida
(formerly of Kingsport); and Joe, Mary and Daniel Jernigan of Kingsport.

The group enjoyed looks at male and female Scarlet tanagers, Green
heron, Belted kingfisher, Eastern phoebe, American goldfinch and several
woodland birds in small feeding flocks. Total species 22. The
boardwalk and platform inside the Aviary proved to be good vantage
points for observing birds across the lake with binoculars and
telescopes. A final highlight was a doe and fawn roaming the grounds of
the park.

This was the second year the Bristol Bird Club organized the bird walk
at Bays Mt. Park.
