Ed Morgan and Ramsey White have created a birding day on May 11, 2013. They
are doing this very informally, so what they hope to do is have everyone
(individuals or teams) in SW Va and UE Tenn go birding and report back to them
with locations and counts. Those going to the Mount Rogers Naturalist Rally
could participate by making it part of their birding day.

You can bird anywhere in our region. Ed and Ramsey plan to start at South
Holston Lake, go to White Top, to Saltville, and end up at Burke's Garden
(!!!). Anyone who wishes will gather at Zazzy'Z Restaurant (380 E Main St,
Abingdon, VA. phone 276-698-3333) at 7pm for refreshments and counting and to
discuss the possibility of doing something bigger in 2014 in conjunction with
Heartwood,
the gateway center to Southwest Virginia craft, music, food, and local culture
located on the campus of the Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon.

Ed and Ramsey have set up an email account that everyone that wishes can use to
report counts and they can communicate with during the day. They hope, via
cell phones and email, to keep everyone apprised throughout the day of what has
been seen and where.

Their email address is VATENBirdCount@xxxxxxxxx.
