Went to Reelfoot lake last weekend on the annual ETSU birding trip there with Dr. Alsop and students. We saw and heard 99 species of birds including the trip up and back! Notably, Ross's Goose (in an enormous mixed group of Snow Geese and White-fronted Geese), Lapland Longspurs, LeConte's sparrow, Horned Larks, Common Loons, Hooded Merganser, Am. Coots, all seven species of Woodpeckers on the TOS list, and of course many Bald Eagles. Dr. Alsop also called up several Barred Owls and Great Horned Owls and a Barn Owl. We saw the American Woodcock doing its crazy mating dance! Really a wonderful experience-I recommend it!
