Area Birders, While looking around outside the house this morning I heard an unusual call just a couple a hundred feet up the road. When I went to investigate I found a Red-headed Woodpecker, a bird that we have only a few records for in Buchanan. I hurried back to the house for the video camera, but the bird kept moving away. It finally disappeared into the woods. We also had our first brood of Eastern Bluebirds to fledge from our first Buchanan County bluebird trail today. The brood of five healthy birds were still being fed a couple of days ago, but this morning they were gone. The nest was undisturbed, and it was time for the young ones to fledge. Enjoy the birds, Roger Mayhorn Grundy, VA ************************************************* BRISTOL BIRDS NET LIST This is a regional birding list sponsored by the Bristol Bird Club to facilitate communications between birders and bird clubs of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
