The stumble-birder strikes again.

Today, my daughter and a friend float fishing on the Holston River this
afternoon. While floating along adjacent to Big Springs Road, I spotted two
male Red Headed Woodpeckers along the river at about 4:00 p.m.

Directions. Go to the Old Weaver Pike Bridge and head upriver on Big
Springs Road. Somewhere about 1.5-2 miles upriver toward Big Springs is a
large power transmission line that crosses the river and Big Springs Road.
The birds were about 400 yards or so upriver from the line. On the opposite
side of the river is a yellow house on a knoll.

The birds were in the sycamore trees which lined the river banks just below
the yellow house. One was on the far shoreline, and one was on the Big
Springs Road side. Listen for the loud-ratchety vocalizations of the birds
which drew my attention to them.

The sounds I heard were the chatter/ratchety sounds near the end of the
recording.
