Carver's Gap
Roan Mountain, TN
19 JUL 03
This afternoon my family was treated to long sought after eyeful of a Red
Crossbill. The bird was resting on evergreen limb on the roadside across from
the gravel parking area at Carver's Gap. This marked a life bird for all of us.
We also ID'd Chestnut-sided Warbler, Pine Siskin, Canada Warbler and
Re-breasted Nuthatch among others. Don Holt and company arrived just missing
the
Crossbill while on butterfly count duty.

Earlier in the day we enjoyed great looks at a male American Redstart and
Yellow Warbler in Hampton Cove Creek.

'Til we bird again
