Cocke county
Douglas Lake elevation: 987.5 ft.

I drove in & out for a quick look at nearly-flooded Rankin Bottoms yesterday afternoon. I saw a sandhill crane, summer adult plumage, foraging on the other side of the embayment. Seems like a late date; possibly the same individual I saw on several visits since the fall. I hope to get back soon for a more thorough survey by canoe.

Green heron (FOS)
