Rankin Bottoms WMA, Cocke County

Spent a couple of hours at Rankin Bottoms Wildlife Management Area in
Cocke County this afternoon. Both the numbers and diversity of shorebirds I
saw had decreased since my last visit on September 12. A partial list of
birds:

Blue-winged Teal (8)
Northern Harrier (1 immature, scattered everything around 4:45 pm!)
Great Egret (30+)
Great Blue Heron (18)
Green Heron (2)
Killdeer (18)
American Avocet (1, continuing across from Ivy Trail)
Pectoral Sandpiper (4)
Least Sandpiper (8)
Spotted Sandpiper (2)
Palm Warbler (4 near beginning of old road bed)

Dutch Bottoms
Laughing Gull (2, continuing)
