Holston Mountain

There are "at least" three territorial male Prairie Warblers on the ridges
along Highway 421 crossing Holston Mountain (Sullivan County). The birds are
singing from the burned area at, above, and below mile-marker 33 (along Highway
421).

One bird could be heard singing at pulloffs 0.4 and 0.3 miles below mile-marker
33 (assumed to be the same bird; same direction). This is the first time that I
have heard one from this spot.

Another bird was heard singing from the pulloff at mile-marker 33 and from the
pulloff about 0.1 miles above mile-marker 33 (assumed to be the same bird; same
direction). This is the spot that Prairie Warblers have been heard most
reliably.

A third bird was heard (close to the road) from a pulloff about 0.3 miles above
mile-marker 33. Rob Biller and I had one here a few weeks ago.

There was also a male Summer Tanager singing and calling at the mile-marker 33
pulloff. Seemed like an odd place to encounter one.
