Phipps Bend Hawkins County, Tennessee Sept 20, 2008 Was out this morning by 8:00 am at Phipps Bend. First highlight of the trip was a huge flock of Tree Swallows on the road, wires, and fence around the Cooper Standard facility. I estimate conservatively there were around 2,000 birds. I looked at hundreds of individuals and I did not see another swallow except Tree. Last Fall, as I recall, in this same spot I had a flock of very late Cliff Swallows. Other bird included: Indigo Bunting (many) Song Sparrow (many) Brown Thrasher Eastern Bluebird White-eyed Vireo Wood Duck (8) Magnolia Warbler Common Yellowthroat American Redstart Red-shouldered Hawk Eastern Meadowlark Killdeer Common Crow Rick Phillips Kingsport, Sullivan County, Tennessee
