Birding at Paddle Creek Pond in eastern Sullivan County, TN

provided a couple of nice finds today, 15 Sept 2015. An

Olive-sided Flycatcher was found perched in the top of

a small tree and flying out quickly to capture bugs. A

Peregrine Falcon was turning above the pond when it

made a steep swoop at a Greater Yellowlegs which was

feeding in shallow water. The yellowlegs dashed into

deeper water and beneath the surface, only to stick its bill out

for air and then quickly surface as the falcon flew away.

Saturday, 12 Sept, the pond had 19 Blue-winged Teal, a

Spotted Sandpiper, 2 Solitary Sandpipers and a Greater

Yellowlegs. An American Wigeon was on the nearby

South Fork Holston River.
