Bristol Area Birders: At this moment Jeff Wilson, the Ol' Coot from Memphis, has just arrived at the Slagle Creek State Natural Area in Steele Creek Park at Bristol to search for a Ruffed Grouse. He is joined by Park Naturalist Kevin Hamed. Steele Creek Park and the natural area are located inside of Bristol Tennessee and cover 2,000 acres of rolling woodland hills in the Ridge and Valley region of Northeast Tennssee. Hamed has established their prospect at 75% chance of finding a grouse before 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time. That's pressure, Kevin! Way to go. The sun is just now coming over the southeast ridges, the temperature at 54 degrees and clear. At this hour he is in search of species No. 285 in his drive to reach 290 species by Monday. His annual list is at 284. This year's list goal is 300. His East Tennessee quest is launched!
