Rick Phillip's location description is right on target. I went by this afternoon about 4:15 PM. Located the spruce trees, but no bird. Waited about 20 minutes, watched about a dozen crows fly westward apparently toward their roost, then a bird flew up with falcon-like wings ---- Merlin! It was still there when I left 30 minutes later. Immediately after it flew up to the branch, it scraped it beak on the branch. This is the same thing that is done after a bird leaves a suet feeder. Could it have been having dinner just prior to returning to its perch? Brian Wheeler's book indicates that a likely prey is the House Sparrow. It might have just come back from Pal's.
Great instructions. Thanks, Rick.
