Thanks to Chris Sloan for the helpful advice about pelagic birding, photography, and not throwing up. I spent 2 days this past weekend with Brian Patteson cruising the gulf stream for birds. We really only had the most likely birds, but it was an exciting weekend as this was my first real pelagic trip with 8 life birds. I definitely have a new appreciation for the great photos Chris has posted as I struggled to even get birds in the frame with them zipping by the boat, which was bobbing up and down. In fact, many of my shots turned out to be empty seascapes. I did manage to get a few ID shots by making it up with volume. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dkirschke/sets/72157627327749789/ I am looking forward to my next boat trip - Rankin Bottoms by canoe with Mike.
