Area Birders,
My wife, Lynda, and I were up by 4:00 AM this morning and on the road by
4:30 to drive to South Holston lake to attempt to see the Sabine's Gull
found there yesterday by Rack and Sammy Cross and Ed Talbott.

We arrived just minutes before daylight, and at first light we started
searching for the gull. We didn't find it but we did see an Osprey dive for
fish, a Bald Eagle circling not far overhead, several Great Blue Herons and
a Great Egret feeding along the water's edge.

However, in the future, when you guys find such a rare bird in the area,
please tie it down until we get there. It's a long drive back to Grundy when
you've missed a lifebird of that caliber.

Seriously, congratulations to you fellows for the find. Good Job.

Roger Mayhorn
